크리스마스 장식_리스(Wreath)

At this time of year, many houses and buildings in the United States are decorated with Christmas wreaths.

매년 이 때 즈음에는 미국의 많은 집과 건물들은 크리스마스 리스로 장식된다.

This tradition of adorning doors and walls with decorative wreaths dates back to the 7th century B.C., when wreaths made of tree branches were used to crown the winners of the Olympic games.

문과 벽을 장식용 리스로 장식하는 전통은 나뭇가지로 만들어진 리스가 올림픽 경기의 승자를 위한 왕관으로 사용되었던 기원전 7세기 까지 거슬러 올라간다. 

 

No one really knows how or when the head ornament became a wall decoration.

Many speculate it occurred when athletes hung their awards on the wall as a memento of victory.
