<Delicious Turkish Desserts>

Many people love sweets. Turkish people especially enjoy eating them with tea or coffee and sharing them with friends. In fact, desserts are an important part of Turkish food culture.

많은 사람들이 달콤한 것을 좋아한다. 특히 터키 사람들은 차 혹은 커피와 함께 달콤한 것을 먹는 것을 즐기고, 주변 친구들에게 나누어 준다. 사실 터키의 음식 문화에 있어서 디저트는 아주 중요한 부분이다.

Perhaps the most famous Turkish dessert is lokum or “Turkish delight.” Lokum is a jelly-like sweet that is cut into cubes and covered with sugar powder. There are many different colors and flavors of lokum. But the most common type is pink and tastes of rose water.

아마도 터키의 가장 유명한 디저트는 ‘로쿰’ 혹은 ‘터키쉬 딜라이트’일 것이다. 로쿰은 큐브 형태로 잘려진 모양을 가지며 설탕 옷이 입혀진 젤리 같은 것이다. 로쿰은 다양한 색과 맛을 가진다. 그러나 가장 대표적인 타입은 핑크색의 장미 워터(?) 맛을 가지는 것이다.

Another beloved dessert is baklava. It is a crispy, chewy pastry. Between its many layers, there are chopped nuts and syrup. Turkish people usually serve baklava with coffee, especially on religious holidays.

또 다른 인기 디저트는 바클라바이다. 바클라바는 바삭하고 꼭꼭 씹어먹어야 하는(쫄깃한) 페이스트리 반죽이다. 이는 여러겹의 층 사이에는 잘게 부숴진 견과류와 시럽이 들어있다. 특히 종교적인 휴일에 터키 사람들은 대개 바클라바를 커피와 함께 대접한다.

Finally, halva is a chewy dessert that is made with butter, honey, and sesame seeds or nuts. Turkish people make it for special events such as births or weddings.

마지막으로 할바는 버터, 꿀, 깨 혹은 견과류로 만들어진 쫄깃한 디저트이다. 터키 사람들은 생일이나 결혼식과 같은 특별한 행사를 위해 할바를 만든다.
