학교폭력으로 인한 자살_Bullycide

With this school term coming to an end, the subject of kids being cruel to other kids, getting good deal of attention. Several books on the subject climbing the best-seller list. But in some communities, the problem of bullying has gotten so bad they're now passing new laws and coming up with novel ways to deal with it. 

학기가 끝나가는 상황에서, 다른 아이들을 괴롭히는 아이들에 대한 이야기가 주목받고 있다. 이 주제를 다룬 몇몇 책들은 베스트셀러에 오르고 있다. 그러나 일부 지역에서는 학교폭력의 문제가 아주 심한 나머지 새로운 법을 통과시키고 있고, 문제해결을 위한 방법들을 내놓고 있다.

"I would come home. I had choke marks on my neck. I had scratches on my back. And finally I had to tell someone about it."

"집에 왔어요. 제 목에는 졸린 자국이 있고, 등에는 긁힌 자국이 있었어요. 결국 누군가에게 이 이야기를 했어야만 했어요."

Harrowing tales these junior high school students won't soon forget.

해당 중학교 학생들이 쉽게 잊지 못할 끔찍한 이야기이다.

"The kids would pick you up and just throw you down and stuff, and one kid broke my toe, you know."

"애들이 사람을 들어서 던져버려요. 한 아이는 제 발가락을 부러뜨렸죠."

"How hard is it to tell the principal, 'Hey, I'm a target of bullying. I'm being pushed around the hallway.' It is pretty hard?"

"교장 선생님에게 알리는 것은 얼마나 어렵니? '저는 괴롭힘의 대상이예요. 복도에서 저는 노려지고 있어요.' 라고 말하는 것이 꽤 어렵니?"

Talequah Junior High is leading the way with an aggressive policy to educate not only students, but every employee, even bus drivers.

탈레콰 중학교는 학생뿐만 아니라, 전 교직원 심지어 버스기사를 포함하여 적극적인 교육을 이끌고 있다. 

"When a child comes to you with a bully situation, listen to him."

"학교폭력 문제로 학생이 찾아올 때, 그가 하는 말을 잘 들어주세요."

Educator, Fred Poteete believes passionately the new legislation could make a world of difference for students scarred by bullies.

교육자 프레드 포티는 새로운 법안이 학교폭력으로 고통받고 있는 학생들을 위해 커다란 변화를 가져올 것이라는 것을 강하게 믿고 있다.

"That, those hurt, that hurt will never go away. That's the thing about it. We, all we can do is try to give them skills that, that, so they can cope with that."

"그 상처는 절대 사라지지 않습니다. 원래 그런거 거든요. 우리가 할 수 있는 것은 학생들이 그것을 극복할 수 있는 기술을 주는 것입니다."

A drop box at the school, where students report bullying anonymously, has helped school officials prevent abusive behavior. Prevention that may well have saved Brandon Swartwood's life.

익명으로 학교폭력을 제보할 수 있는 건의함은 교직원들이 폭력 행위를 예방하는 데에 도움을 주었다. 브랜든 스워트우드의 생명을 살릴 수도 있었던 그 예방책이다.
